Saab in Canada
Now that it looks like it's official that Saab is sold the next question is.... Who will sell/service Saabs in Canada? I was surprised that Calgary is the only place in Canada that has a Spyker dealer.

You know what the funny thing is..... SAAB in Canada looks like it's not going to happen. (or at least any time soon) BUT.. go to SAAB USA and you can still buy a new SAAB. What's up with that? Canada has more SAAB's per ca pita than the US does and we have a Spyker dealer.
BTW Natchos, what part of Okotoks do you live in? I am moving to Drake Landing.

Re: Saab in Canada
I am sad that the dealerships in Calgary are gone too. I hope that perhaps The Dilawri Group may look at possibly brining SAAB back since they handle Spyker. I contacted them regarding the upcoming auto show and right now they are focusing on Bently/Aston/Sypker no plans for SAAB on their part.
Why Spyker in Calgary, theres alot of money here guys. This also explains Bentley and Aston.
I hope whoever brings SAAB back to Calgary also sees the potential market and that there are alot of SAAB owners here that could use service support.
For service right now Natcho I am still going to my old NE SAAB dealer (who is now a KIA dealer), they still have the SAAB techs there (ask for Sully). PH.250-2502.

Re: Saab in Canada
I too must take my SAAB to GSL for any warranty work.
But I will take any other repairs and if I need a 2nd opinion to my old SAAB dealer.
BTW.. there was a news item a few days ago about GSL and a botched warranty repair. See this news link:

Thats what we have to look forward to..

Re: Saab in Canada
Hi All,
Just had some warranty work done at GSL and it was horrible!
My car nearly caught fire on the way home from all the antifreeze they didn't cleanup.
It took 2 days for the smell to go away not to mention getting dizzy on the drive home.
I think I am going to e-mail GM and Spyker to tell them of the horrible experience and to let Spyker know that GM isn't doing them any favors.
AT ALL COSTS........ DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR TO GSL!!!!!!

Re: Saab in Canada
I had to call them 3 times to get an appointment, first time they told me that they don't work on SAAB's, second time I called they never called back and the last time took them 4 days to get back to me!

Re: Saab in Canada
There is an item on Saabs United linking to an Autoline Detroit interview with the new president of Saab North America (renamed from Saab US?). They are setting up in Michigan, which is close to Canada. It would appear that the intent is to have one organization to cover "North America". But I don't think they have done anything about contacting Canadian Saab dealers or setting up new ones. Also to be settled is how existing warranties will be dealt with. Currently this is being handled by GM.

Re: Saab in Canada
I am stickily cutting and pasting this from Saab United Site. This was posted from Swade and I thank him for all of the great work he does......
But what great news!

In case you Canadians missed it in comments, there was a story there pertaining to Saab's future in Canada.
I've had the commenter email me as well.
'Late Breaking': VM in Toronto week of May 10 for the launch of 'Saab Canada'!
Budd's Saab (local dealership; oldest in the country) will be the distribution anchor.
How do I know this? Well, my colleague just purchased one of the last new/demo '09 9-3s there and it was mentioned casually. Actually, I'm surpised that they're being so coy about it. Must be waiting for confirmation of actual day...or the Volcanic Plume to clear
.
Saab 9-5 will be there. With drives for the Press only at this time...
No official word yet, but this is quite promising.

Re: Saab in Canada
Party Hats and Champers all round! [It's about time...].
Apparently, there will be at least 4 'Authorized' dealers in the GTA (including Budd's;Queensway; Pickering).
London,Ontario too.
No Leggat [Guelph]. But there will be another somewhere between Toronto and London.
Afraid I don't have any other 'Scoops' for the rest of the Country.
Hoping to press the flesh with Victor
