TORONTO SAVE SAAB CONVOY- Saturday, January 23, 2010
Hello everyone,
It's official! Aktive Motors is organizing a SAVE SAAB CONVOY this Saturday, January 23, 2010. They would like to invite all SAAB owners and enthusiasts to unite and show their support for SAAB. We need to send a clear message to GM. That message simply is that SAAB should be sold. This is not a protest of GM, but a celebration of SAAB as a unique and viable brand if given a chance to be independent.
This event is what all SAAB owners in Toronto, Canada have been waiting for. For all those owners that feel as passionately as I do about our beloved brand, please meet at Aktive Motors this Saturday, January 23, 2010 starting at 11am. There will be light refreshments served. We will then depart at 12pm to join with other SAAB owners at IKEA at the 401/Leslie around 1pm. Afterwhich, we will depart IKEA at 1:30pm and meet at the GM headquarters around 2:15pm. We will take a group photo and show the world that the owners in Toronto, Canada also care about SAAB's future.
For more information, please call Aktive Motors at 905-842-0017, website http://www.aktivemotors.com, or email me and I will send you information with times and directions to the convoy site.
Whatever the outcome of SAAB's future, please join us and show your support for SAAB. Be a part of this global
community that are willing to unite to SAVE SAAB around the world. Thank you to Christian and Kathy Skovbjerg of Aktive Motors for having the passion to organize this event. Looking forward to seeing all of the Toronto SAAB fans unite!
Regards,
Saxel

Re: TORONTO SAVE SAAB CONVOY- Saturday, January 23, 2010
you should email someone from the toronto star maybe. and for sure contact the other saab places in the gta, like i can talk to the guys at beacon motors (i work there, so its easy) and someone should contact the dealers. If we can get even a small percentage of the saab owners in ontario together, we would have a big size convoy.
the star would be very good, as it would allow us to get the message to more people.

The Saab community in Toronto and surrounding towns showed up in force today at the SAVE SAAB rally that congregates at GM Oshawa HQ. We have Saab drivers coming from near and from afar; some from Niagara Falls and there is even one car with New Jersey plate. I noticed some media coverage of the event as well.
Someone told me we had 57 cars arrived at GM Oshawa. My photo showed the majority of the drivers and some of their beautiful cars in the background.

The event was organized by Christian, owner of Aktive Motors in Oakville Ontario.
Not only is he a long time master Saab tech and owner of a Saab specialty shop, but he is also owner of 3 Sonett 3's, 1 Sonett 2, and 4 other Saabs.
Here are some pics from the event today ...

Lots of Saabs and people.

What years are those Sonetts?

Talk about lots of colour!!!

The collection of Saabs before leaving Aktive Motors.

The new and the old ... what colour!!!

Showing our support for Saab in GM's own backyard!

Think someone will get the message?

Even a cold windy day couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces!
What an incredible turnout!!!

Christian being interviewed.

A new slogan perhaps?

I guess I'll use my first post to say that I had a great time today. It was fun meeting people and check out all the cars.
I even had the opportunity to meet the previous owner of my car...he recognized it. Nice guy, even offered to send me all the service records. Good to know that it was taken care of before it came my way.
Good times!

That roof-top shot of the 5 different coloured cars is a memorable one...Coffee-table worthy (Screensaver at least).
And given the day was brass monkey cold I know Scott suffered for his art!

Rogers TV news video of SAVE SAAB convoy
Hello,
Just wanted to say that I had a wonderful time participating in the Toronto SAVE SAAB convoy. It was fun driving along with other SAAB enthusiasts from Aktive Motors in Oakville to the IKEA in North York and then to the GM headquarters in Oshawa. I've never felt as proud as I was to see so many SAAB's on the road all in a row at the same time. What a sight to behold! It was great to meet all the owners and see all of the great SAAB models over the years.
I think that Rogers TV in Oshawa did a great job in capturing the message we wanted to send GM. Please click below:

Thanks to everyone who made the effort to participate on such a cold day and displaying their SAAB SPIRIT. Your actions speak volumes. Let's hope there will be some good news soon regarding the future of SAAB. No matter the outcome, we have shown that SAAB has supporters from around the world. In this global campaign to SAVE SAAB, let's hope that GM will get the message to try to SELL SAAB in good faith and give SAAB a chance to be independent. I will have my fingers crossed so that someday I may be able to say "SAAB SAVED".
Regards,
Saxel

Here's the 'eating humble pie' retraction statement from the Star motoring journalist John Le Blanc

Mr. Leblanc's response is dishonourable. Juvenile. You'd think 'Honest John' would step up to the plate and admit wrong.

The man is a clown.
A true and honest motor journalist should love cars - all cars.
A true and honest motor journalist would show sympathy towards the possible death of any car brand and praise those who fight for its survival.
He should be ashamed to call himself a 'motor journalist'....................
