No.
We are regularly told by enthusiasts that they are very interested, will definitely be there, to "count me in," and are asked to hold or reserve or save a spot for them.
With respect, we cannot do this. Not without a completed (and that means completed) school application form that includes payment.
Sometimes we are sent a registration by fax (which is fine) where the payment is made by cheque (which is mailed). Again this is all fine. But understand that this application is not considered complete until the mailed cheque is received (and finally bound to the application).
We take applications on a first-come, first-served (paid, completed) basis.
This becomes very important when a school is near to or does in fact sell out. We put people on the waiting list in the order that paid, completed applications are received. We date- and time-stamp all school applications.
Also note, one's reserved status may change when the club treasurer deposits cheques and authorizes Visa debits. If cheques do not clear or the credit card is declined*, we change an applicant's status to "unregistered" until the payment matter is resolved. If the matter is not resolved satisfactorily and in a timely fashion, the applicant may be denied entrance to the school. If there is a waiting list, they may forfeit their spot for another applicant.
Simply put, the only way that a spot in a school is held is when you complete the paperwork properly and pay in advance. If you're really interested, you prove this by following our simple application requirements.
- Most Visa declines are due to us guessing (incorrectly) hard-to-read or illegibly-printed Visa numbers and expiry dates.
