I just returned the 2007 9-5 that I had for 2 weeks. While it was a time of sadness, I also had one of those “the vacation is over and I can get back to real life” feelings. Sitting in my 1999 9-5 (with 236,000 kms) felt good. I was home again with a really good experience under my belt.

Well, the AGM took place and, surprise, surprise, there were no surprises! ;-)

We have refreshed the Board of Directors and I take pleasure in welcoming Patrick Turner and Bob English to the Board for the next 12 months. Guido, Fred, and I were all reinstated as Directors. Fred was also re-elected to position of Vice President.

Forum registration and user access have been upgraded. Your old forum password will now work for the entire website. You can maintain a global profile and post comments to the articles on the main site. Stay tuned, there's a good number of new features to come.

When you first get to read this article, we will likely have just finished our Annual General Meeting and I will not be President. That is just a matter of due process though and not desire. At each AGM, all of the elected members will either stand for re-election or step aside. As you know from last month’s Gryphon, I will be standing for re-election, both to the Board and as club President.

I wanted to give everyone a quick overview of how SOCCI operates. Considering that the AGM should be considered the most important meeting of the year for the club, it only seems fitting to me that everyone have a basic understanding of how we operate.

Another year gone.

Or looked at another way, another year is here.

Surprisingly enough, for a country known for having just about every climate imaginable, our winter this year has been a lot less than we would have imagined. Having said that, as I sit here typing this, parts of Southern Ontario from Newmarket to Barrie are being hammered by the worst storm of the year.

Saab Canada invited us to the Canadian International Autoshow again this year.

The crowned griffin reigns right in the middle of the Rogers Centre arena, you see it right away as you walk down the stairs. The Saab booth is a part of the General Motors section, next to Cadillac and Saturn.

This year Saab has a large exhibition that features the famous Aero-X concept car and the JL Racing competition Saab. Also available - four 9-3s (sedan, wagon, convertible - all in Aero trim, as well as a base sedan), a 9-5 Aero wagon, and a 9-7.

We're proud to participate. Club representatives will be available on site. Ask us about the cars, the club and the high performance driving school.
