Yes, you can camp at SMP.

Often, after the school, we meet for dinner at the Red Rock Canyon in Belleville. It's at 365 North Front Street. Their number is 966-7232.

To get there from Shannonville:

• exit the track
• turn right/west onto Hwy 2
• turn right/north onto Shannonville road
• enter the 401, westbound
• exit the 401, Hwy 62 southbound (exit 543A)

The restaurant is in the mall that is south-east of the first light. Either turn left/east at the light or go through the light and take a left into the parking lot.

The Nelson grandstands are obviously a good viewing place. Easily accessed. Go all the way to the top, for a good workout and a good view.

There's a balcony facing north off the 4th floor of the tower. Be sure not to disturb participants in the classroom.

Often we do lunch in the classroom (4th floor tower).

If the weather's really nice, we can have lunch outdoors, in the covered picnic table area to the west of the tower.

If you need to add air to your tires, the garage, in the middle of the Nelson paddock, has an air hose, on the east side of the building.

Some instructors and drivers may have portable pumps.

There's no fuel at the track... See the services page for nearby gas stations.

This assumes you're in the Nelson paddock...

You begin by driving all the way to the far east end of the Nelson paddock and parking lot. Beyond the garage or shack (with the air), you'll see a small access road. It curves to the north and runs behind fencing and billboards.

Follow this narrow road all the way around, as it curves back to the west or left. You will find yourself in the Fabi paddock and parking lot near the Fabi "tower" (if you can call it that).

This road is narrow so use car [ed: oops, care!] when passing oncoming traffic...

This assumes you're not driving on the Fabi circuit only...

If your instructor is not required for the subsequent scheduled session at pit out near the tower, you may as you "pit in" turn left before passing the Nelson grandstands, and drive along the entire length of the Nelson paddock, from east to west.

This frees up the pits and reduces congestion around the tower.

If your participating in morning on-track exercises, you don't need your helmet. During all other on-track driving sessions, you will require a helmet.

If not using the Fabi circuit, drive in your car from the paddock, north along the path between the tower and the grandstands. Wait for your in-car instructor. Follow the instructions of the pit staff and the chief instructor.

Drive in your car from the Nelson paddock (without your helmet), west along the access road between the tower and the washrooms, then turn left to drive toward the skid pad circle. Follow the directions of the skid pad instructors.

When you finish each skid pad exercise, go south, follow the narrow access road to the top of the skid pad and continue your exercises until directed otherwise.

We usually use the skid pad and skid pad loop in a clockwise fashion.
